First things first, there are some important things to know before starting a business.
None of us is actually ‘independent’. Unless we’re living off the land, with zero contact and zero support from other humans, we’re interdependent beings, which is no different when we own our own business. In fact, it becomes even more apparent when we own our own business.
Every time we purchase something, every time we sell something, every time we receive emotional support for something, every time we connect to someone, every time we talk to someone, we have engaged in the give and take of relationship.
Of course the nature of the relationship varies. Some are close and intimate, some are fully dependent like children to parents, some are familiar, some are distant, and some are purely transactional, among many others.
But we are never fully independent just because we’re a digital nomad entrepreneur or whatever kind of small business owner.
I experienced a decent amount of failure when I approached business like all I had to do was do what I thought I loved and I would automatically just get clients and customers.
Every business in the world with a revenue stream is interdependent. It relies on other people to interact with it, to engage with it, to purchase from it, to partner with it, to donate money to it. So, we have to involve the interests of other people in our business creation process, but not entirely in the way you may think.
We are interdependent, because we desire a revenue stream. Where does the revenue stream come from? People who engage with our business. So, this becomes the important question. How do we create a business that attracts people to engage with it?
And wait, if you’re here, you’re likely also wondering this, how do we create a business that attracts people to engage with it, and also is something that we love to do and allows us to fulfill all of our soul’s desires?
Well, here’s one of the secrets. Because our external reality is a reflection of our internal reality, when I say that your business success relies on other people, what I really mean is that your success relies on your internal alignment and then the other people and the money and the fulfillment will show up as the universe’s positive feedback in the cause and effect cycle you’ve now created.
This is the really important part. I know because I failed at this multiple times. It truly is a magical formula that I’ve teased out into 3 steps.
The intuitive calibration of that threefold combination is what will attract the clients and customers and interest.
Now, I need to stress, this isn’t the formula for making money. There are obviously many people making money who aren’t meeting this formula. But then, they also aren’t loving what they do, always having more than enough, and fulfilling all of their soul’s desires.
When we are in a state of soul-authentic being-ness, we fulfill the reason we were incarnated on this planet in the first place. Every single one of us has something to offer the world, purely from being exactly who we are deep down.
And the universe will make it clear when we’re not aligned and when we are aligned because the universe wants us to do what we’re meant to do. Our microcosmic expansion serves the macrocosmic expansion, which is why, although it serves painful lessons at times, the universe is actually a benefic entity. The greater the alignment, the greater the positive feedback we’ll experience, in all areas of our life.
Now that we’re reaching for the stars, I’m going to bring you back down to this reality for another important concept.
You will fail. You will make mistakes, you will get overwhelmed, you will need to pivot, you will need to work at it, you will wrestle with really tough decisions, you will wish you could hand over the responsibility to someone else, you will hit rock bottom.
Our emotional bandwidth and our soul’s aligned purpose are difficult to get right, especially just out of the gate. And because our external reality reflects our internal reality, the difficulties in our life will show up when we need to recalibrate our internal alignment.
But you also need to know this – you will pick yourself back up again. You will develop a strength and willpower and competence you didn’t know you had within you. You will experience ease and flow, you will succeed, you will have breakthroughs, you will develop emotional resilience, you will get to know yourself like you never have before.
And isn’t this just a metaphor for life? Choosing to work for yourself is choosing to become an incredibly self-aware, self-responsible, emotionally intelligent, self-accountable adult. It’s realizing that you’re independent in the sense that the responsibility rests on you, but that you’re interdependent in the sense that your success relies on your alignment with the rest of the universe.
Phew, these are some big concepts to wrap our heads around, aren’t they? I truly, deeply, wish that someone had explained this out in detail to me when I began my journey of entrepreneurship (instead of learning it the hard way 5 businesses in).
If you truly understand how important your emotional bandwidth and your soul’s aligned purpose are, then you’re going to do an incredible job. You still may experience failure and pain and struggle, because this is human life, but you’ll be more than capable of handling it, pivoting, and transmuting it into soul gold.
