As I mentioned in Part 2, there is a magical 3 step formula for starting a successful business. What do I mean by successful?
I mean a business that you love – where you’re doing the work you love to do in the world, you’re receiving financial abundance because the universe is responding to your internal alignment with external results, and you’re fulfilling your soul’s deepest, most satisfying, desires. This is going to look different for every single one of us.
So, what is the formula?
Emotional Bandwidth + Soul Alignment + Strategic Action (read: being brave)
#1 – Emotional Bandwidth is simply the expansive ability to experience all emotions. However, it’s definitely not a simple thing to achieve.
Here, I talk about bandwidth, rather than going up the ascension ladder toward enlightenment, freeing ourselves of low-vibe emotions to attain high-vibe emotions… nah.
Bandwidth implies a spectrum. Imagine a horizontal line with different emotions occurring across the spectrum, with one end being the more painful emotions and the other end being the more blissful emotions.
This is not a shadow-light spectrum. This is an emotions spectrum. If we were to talk about shadows, we would place another identical line below the emotions line, and we would talk about the shadow versions of each of the same emotions.
For example, guilt is a not very fun emotion to experience. However, it is totally normal to experience after we’ve inadvertently, or intentionally, caused somebody else to experience pain – emotional or physical.
If guilt was in shadow, then we would have extremely repressive or overreactive expressions of guilt when it was triggered, rather than simply feeling guilt and then apologizing or whatnot.
Following me so far? Good. So a lot of what we talk about for starting a successful business here on the blog is also applicable to simply living a fully alive, self-responsible, fulfilled life.
Life is much more enjoyable when we have expanded our emotional bandwidth. Because of the polarity of the spectrum, the further into the painful emotions we go, the further we are then able to go into the blissful emotions as well.
This is the part that explains why trauma is so related to our ability to experience abundance. Many of us who have been through trauma have a very limited emotional bandwidth. When we start to feel too much joy, we shut down because we don’t want to get our hopes up. And when we start to feel too much pain, we shut down because we’re afraid it will consume us.
Because we experienced a traumatic event that took us way too far on the emotional spectrum, we clamped it up and chose subconsciously to stay in the safe middle realm, out of fear of experiencing something similar again.
Emotional, somatic, trauma work is so important to developing your foundation for starting a business. Any time we choose to truly enter the arena of life, with its adventure, its responsibility, its joy, its pain, we are going to experience the unexpected. We are going to experience both highs and lows.
So, it’s incredibly vital that you expand your emotional bandwidth to fully process any prior trauma and to prepare yourself to ride the waves of entrepreneurship and the instability of our current economic and human evolution.
Like I said before, this isn’t just for people who think it would be fun to become an entrepreneur. Unemployment and economic transition are causing a lot of people to turn to entrepreneurship that wouldn’t have in the past. This is vitally important for all of us right now.
#2 – Soul Alignment is recognizing that you are a unique human, a unique fractal aspect of the wholeness of consciousness, which means that no matter what, you have a unique role to fill in this life.
There is not a single person on this planet that doesn’t have a role, a purpose, a place of belonging, worthiness, value to offer the world. Every single one of us has value simply for being born here.
This also means that you are not going to be able to replicate anyone else. Which means that everyone out there selling a ‘this is how you succeed’ formula is totally missing the point if they don’t include this alignment part. The strategy doesn’t come until the third step because strategy will only work when you’re aligned.
And of course you’re not going to get it perfect the first time, and of course you keep doing it anyway. Remember that emotional resilience piece? View the results as the feedback telling you how aligned you are.
This means unlearning who you think you should be, unlearning who you were told to be, unlearning all the ‘should’s and the conditioning and the societal perceptions of what’s valuable and what’s not.
And realizing that you are going to have to chart your own course. You can receive help, support, advice, and guidance, for sure, but the compass pointing your way forward has got to be your own internal compass.
And this isn’t just one time connecting to your inner truth and then you’re good. This isn’t about getting one arrow pointing you in the right direction. This is about tuning in to the arrow every single day.
Our soul often doesn’t lead us on straight paths, because how fun would that be anyway? It leads us one direction one day, then another direction another day once we’ve learned or mastered what we were meant to.
Soul alignment requires constant recalibration and checking in with your inner compass of truth.
#3 – Strategic Action is the part where you get to be brave.
With your foundation of expanded emotional bandwidth and a working internal compass of soul alignment, now you’re ready to start taking strategic action!
This is where you listen and when your compass points toward doing a Facebook Live, you learn how to do a Facebook Live. This is when you seek assistance for the technical and strategic steps that feel intuitively like the right step for you.
And you do it, and you wait for the feedback. And you do it again, and you wait for the feedback. And you evaluate the feedback, and you pivot, and you tweak, and you check in with your compass every day, and you continue onward in this way.
Because what is true within is true without, then we need to remember that we aren’t seeking an achievement or objective here. It’s so easy to fall into the frame of mind that we’ll do a ton of work in order to finally feel fulfillment.
The point here is to take strategic action that feels fulfilling to take. It’s to feel fulfillment in the work that you’re doing. It’s to already feel the satisfaction and the abundance and the joy, while you’re doing it, while you’re starting it, while you’re evaluating it. Because your internal state is always reflected back to you.
And this is the whole damn point of all of this, now isn’t it?
I love you, you’re doing amazing, keep going.
Be brave with your life.
